The decisive moment – Joining Rakettitiede, part 2/3

We sat down with four of our consultants to hear how they found their way to Rakettitiede, what the recruitment process felt like, and how life on board the Rocket has been treating them. We’re sharing their stories in a three-part series – and here’s part two.

In the first part, our consultants shared their stories about their first encounters with Rakettitiede – the no-nonsense culture, skilled (and friendly!) colleagues and fair compensation all made a strong first impression. Now, we’re diving into how those impressions held up during the recruitment process – and what ultimately sealed the deal.

Meet the crew:

  • Nicoandres Rodriguez, rocket scientist #67

  • Ville Räsänen, rocket scientist #71

  • Ville Lindholm, rocket scientist #72

  • Anonymous rocket scientist

What sparked your interest in Rakettitiede?

Let’s be real – salary matters. But it’s not the whole story. While our consultants appreciated the generous salary model, what really drew them in were our exciting projects. At Rakettitiede, you get to choose the gigs that suit you best – no one’s pushed into a project they’re not interested in.

Nicoandres felt the match right away: “From the beginning, the company culture, the people and the payment model were a strong stand point for me.”

“It felt like an instant match from the beginning.” – Nicoandres, rocket scientist #67

Others were drawn by the chance to grow professionally and the variety that comes with consulting. What is more, working alongside experienced colleagues means you’re always learning something new.

For Ville Räsänen, it was all about timing: “My previous project was ending, and the Rocket helped me find an exciting new assignment.”

Were there any doubts along the way? Yes and no.

Ville Lindholm found himself weighing the classic question: product house or consulting?

“The general vibe was good from the start, and there were plenty of blog posts online that gave a real look into what Rakettitiede is all about.”

“I’d say my excitement grew because there weren’t many unknowns.” – Ville L. rocket scientist #72

Nicoandres had a bit of a detour: “It took a while to find my first client project – over a month – and eventually I accepted an offer from a product company. That turned out to be a big mistake. My heart was still with Rakettitiede, so I called them back after only a month at the other company.”

And the anonymous consultant?

“For once, I didn’t feel like I was being sold a pipe dream.”

What sealed the deal?

The final decision to sign on the dotted line came down to a mix of things: personal timing, the perks Rakettitiede offers, and the chance to become a shareholder and have a say in the business. Of course, finding the right project is always a must – we don’t just throw consultants into any old gig.

“My first assignment was a perfect fit for where I was in my life at the moment,” says Ville L.

The anonymous consultant already had a friend at the Rocket who spoke highly of the company: “I haven’t looked back.”

In the final part of this series, we’ll share what day-to-day life at Rakettitiede looks like – and how it compares to our consultants’ previous work experiences. Catch up on the series:

  1. First taste

  2. The deciding moment (you’re here!)

  3. The daily grind
